“As consumers we have so much power to change the world by just being careful what we buy” – Emma Watson
That time of year again, the struggle to get your loved ones that authentic gift for Christmas is real and on repeat. But hope is literally around the corner, the Locally Yours Market, with a focus on handmade wares has a pop-up storefront Christmas Market! Their pop-up is located at Moffett Retail Park, off William Moffett Expressway, the entrance next door to Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket. They are open daily, Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm, Saturdays 9am to 3pm and Sundays 9am to 1pm, from now until the 24th of December. Hurry, this is the perfect one-stop-shop for all your unique hand-made Christmas shopping and at great prices!
The awesomeness doesn’t stop there, upon entry, to comply fully with COVID-19 precautions you will get temperature checked by a state-of-the-art contactless check-in machine, that also sanitizes your hands. Only 30 people are allowed entry at a time to ensure peace of mind while shopping. But probably the best thing since sliced bread – you can order lunch or dinner while you shop and pick up your order after you’ve bought a bag of happiness!
The food section, located in the old Wimpy premises include Wafelbak, Mastertons, Karoo Food Truck, Amina’s fusion foods, Sushi Braz, Igbo Fruit Smoothies and Doh My Gosh, so there’s a smorgasbord of options ready for the picking. Grab a coffee and order some take out, then shop while you wait!
Don’t forget by supporting local, you are not only creating jobs but keeping the money in the local economy – something Nelson Mandela Bay desperately needs! More importantly by buying local, you are nurturing a sense of community while investing in local-is-lekker entrepreneurship, so put that “made in China” present back on the shelf and head on over to the Locally Yours Market. Looking for baby items, jewelry, non-perishable flavours of the Bay, stocking fillers, paintings for a new space, scented soaps, ceramics, clothing items, snacks, oils, pet gifts? You name it, Locally Yours has you covered…and the best of all, its local and it’s handmade! There’s something authentic for everyone on your Christmas list and it won’t break the bank.
2020 has been a hard year for every single one of us, so let’s end this year by supporting someone else’s dream? You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy local, and this way you can gift happiness to both your loved ones and a local entrepreneur!
PS. Whenever you purchase something, throw the till slip into the lucky draw, and you’ll stand the chance of winning a Locally Yours hamper on a weekly basis. You can also order Sunday lunch from the food court – so if you’re rained in, this is a great option to get out!
